I am currently a Teaching Fellow in Social Work with Adults at the University of Bristol.   I obtained a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Nottingham and have 18 years’ experience of social work practice, management, research and education in various sectors including mental health and disability.

In 2010 I returned to the University of Nottingham to read for a PhD in Social Work, researching the area of Service User Involvement in social work education, policy and practice, through a mixed-methods study.  My research interests lie the development of service user involvement and participatory governance, and in drawing on the wealth of cultural, historical, social and / or illness-specific service-user knowledge to inform current and future health and social care practitioners and professionals.

I am leading the Performing Inclusion and Community project.
